FORMAT FOR PREPARATION OF PROJECT REPORT

1.ARRANGEMENT OF CONTENTS:
Thesequence inwhich the project report material shouldbe arranged and bound should be as
follows:
1.Cover Page& TitlePage
2.BonafideCertificate
3.Abstract
4.Table ofContents
5.List of Tables
6.List ofFigures
7.List ofSymbols,Abbreviations and Nomenclature
8.Chapters
9.Appendices
10.References
The table and figures shall be introduced in the appropriateplaces.
2.PAGE DIMENSIONAND BINDING SPECIFICATIONS:
Thedimension ofthe project report shouldbe inA4 size. The project report should be
bound using flexiblecover of the thick white art paper. The cover shouldbe printed in
black letters and the text for printing should be identical.
3.PREPARATION FORMAT:
3.1Cover Page & TitlePage –A specimen copy of the Cover page& Titlepage of the project
report aregiven in Appendix 1.
3.2Bonafide Certificate–TheBonafide Certificate shall beindoublelinespacingusingFont
Style Times New Roman and Font Size 14, asper theformat in Appendix 2.
Thecertificateshall carry thesupervisor’s signature andshall be followed by the supervisor’s
name, academic designation (not any other responsibilitiesofadministrativenature),
department and full addressof the institutionwherethe supervisor hasguided thestudent.
Theterm‘SUPERVISOR’mustbe typedin capitallettersbetween thesupervisor’sname
and academic designation.
3.3Abstract –Abstractshould beone page synopsisofthe project report typed double line
spacing, Font Style Times New Roman and Font Size 14.
3.4Tableof Contents –Thetable of contents should listall materialfollowing itaswell asany
material whichprecedesit.ThetitlepageandBonafideCertificatewillnot find aplace
among the itemslisted inthe Table ofContentsbut thepagenumbersofwhich are inlower
case Roman letters. One and a half spacing shouldbe adoptedfor typing the matter under this
head.A specimen copy ofthe Table of Contents of the projectreportisgiven inAppendix 3.
3.5List of Tables –Thelist shoulduseexactlythesamecaptionsastheyappear above the
tablesin the text.One and a halfspacing shouldbeadoptedfortyping the matter underthis
head.
3.6List of Figures –Thelist shoulduse exactly the samecaptionsasthey appear below the
figuresinthetext. Oneand a halfspacingshouldbe adopted for typing the matterunderthis
head.
3.7List of Symbols,Abbreviationsand Nomenclature–One and ahalfspacingshouldbe
adopted or typing thematter under thishead.Standard symbols,abbreviationsetc.shouldbe
used.
3.8Chapters – The chapters may bebroadly divided into 3 parts(i) Introductory chapter, (ii)
Chapters developing the main theme of theproject work (iii) and Conclusion.
Themain text will be divided intoseveral chaptersand each chapter may befurtherdivided
into several divisions and sub-divisions.
Eachchapter should be given an appropriate title.
Tablesand figuresina chapter shouldbe placed in the immediatevicinityofthe
referencewhere they arecited.
Footnotesshould be used sparingly.Theyshould be typed singlespace andplaced
directly underneath in the verysamepage, which refers to the material they annotate.
3.9Appendices –Appendices areprovided togivesupplementaryinformation,which is
included in the main text may serve as a distraction and cloud the central theme.
Appendicesshould benumbered using Arabic numerals,e.g.Appendix 1, Appendix
2, etc.
Appendices, Tablesand Referencesappearing inappendicesshouldbe numberedand
referred to at appropriate places just as in the case of chapters.
Appendicesshall carry thetitleofthe work reported andthe sametitle shall bemade
inthe contents page also.
3.10 List of References –The listing ofreferencesshould be typed 4spacesbelow theheading
“REFERENCES” in alphabetical order in single spacing left –justified.The reference
material shouldbe listed in the alphabetical order ofthe first author. Thenameofthe
author/authorsshould be immediately followed by the year and other details.
Atypical illustrative listgiven below relates to the citation example quoted above.

project report aswell as in the appendices. All other non-verbalmaterials used in the body of
the project work and appendicessuchascharts, graphs,maps, photographsanddiagrams
may be designated as figures.
4.TYPING INSTRUCTIONS:
The impression on thetypedcopiesshould be black in colour.
Oneanda halfspacing should beused for typingthe general text.The general text shall be
typed in the Font style ‘Times NewRoman’ and Fontsize 14.
