F-1 International Student Estimated Expenses
In order to receive an I-20 document for international admission to McHenry County College, U.S. federal
immigration regulations require that international applicants provid e proof of adequate financial resources to
live and study in the U.S. for at least one full acad emic year. The tuition rate for all F-1 international students
will be assessed at the foreign tuition rate, which is currently $440.41 per credit hour.
When calculating expenses, please keep in mind that students hol ding F-1 non-immigrant stat us are allowed
to work a maximum of 20 hours per week on-campu s during fall/spring semesters. Off-campus employm ent
may be authorized after one academic year with g overnmental approval, if the student is main taining lawful
F-1 status and is in goo d academic stan ding. Any off-campu s emp loyment must be directly related to the
student’s field of study indicated on his/her I-20 document. The student should not view employment as a
significant source of financial support while attending McHenry County College.
