You are a freshman if you will/have graduated from high school or earn/ed your General Equivalency Diploma (GED), and have earned
less than 12 college transfer credits after high school by the time you enroll at Northern Arizona University.
ARIZONA RESIDENTS:
Arizona residents will be offered admission if they meet the following:
3.0 or higher core GPA* (on a 4.0 scale) or top 50 percent class rank
and have no deficiencies in the required college preparatory
courses (on following page).
Each core subject area must be
a minimum of 2.0.
Arizona residents will be considered for admission if they meet the
following: 2.5–2.9 core GPA* (on a 4.0 scale) or a top 50 percent class rank,
and have no more than one deficiency in any two subject areas in the
required college preparatory courses (on following page). Students with a
combination of a math and a lab science deficiency are not admissible.
Each core subject area must be a minimum of 2.0.
NON-RESIDENTS:
Non-resident students will be offered admission if they meet the

application will delay the decision process.
• P lease include a non-refundable admission application fee of $25. Write your
name and address on the check or money order. Do not send cash.
• This application is for U.S. students only. For an international (non-immigrant)
application, go to nau.edu/cie or call 928-523-2409.
• Faxed materials cannot be accepted as official documents.
• Students whose academic record may have been impacted by a documented

If your school uses Docufide, we can accept your transcript electronically. If you have completed an associate's degree, the Arizona General
Education Curriculum (AGEC), or the California Inter-segmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC), you do not need to submit a high
school transcript.
Official transcripts from all colleges attended in a sealed envelope sent to NAU, Office of Undergraduate Admissions, PO Box 4084, Flagstaff, AZ 86011-4084.
ACT and/or SAT I scores. You should indicate NAU as a score recipient when you register for either test.

TRANSFER STUDENT ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
ARIZONA RESIDENTS:
Arizona residents will be offered admission if they have completed an
associate’s degree, the Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC),
or the California Inter-segmental General Education Transfer Curriculum
(IGETC) with a 2.0 or higher GPA.
Arizona residents will also be offered admission if they have a 2.5 or
higher GPA (on a 4.0 scale) in at least 24 transferable academic college
credits and completion of all required college preparatory courses
(listed at right).

higher GPA (on a 4.0 scale) in at least 24 transferable academic college

PLEASE NOTE:
Transfer students who are 21 years of age or younger or have not
completed an associate’s degree, the AGEC, or the California IGETC are
offered admission based on both their college and high school records
and the grades received. These students need a minimum of a 2.0 GPA
in each of the required college preparatory courses (listed below) and
an overall cumulative 2.0 GPA in their college course work to be offered
admission.
Post baccalaureate second-degree seeking applicants must provide an
official transcript indicating the awarding of your degree. Send it to
Northern Arizona University, Office of Undergraduate Admissions,
PO Box 4084, Flagstaff, AZ 86011-4084.
COLLEGE PREPARATORY COURSES:
• 4 years of college preparatory English
• 4 years of math, including Algebra I and II, Geometry, and any
advanced math course for which Algebra II is a prerequisite
• 3 years of laboratory science – one in three of the four areas of
biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science
• 2 years of social science – one year must be American History
• 2 years of one foreign language
• 1 year of fine arts
You are a transfer student if you have earned more than 12 college credit hours after graduating from high school or since earning your
General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
CONCURRENT STUDENT ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
You are a concurrent student if you are enrolling in classes while also enrolled as a high school student. The application for concurrent
enrollment must be submitted no later than two weeks prior to the beginning of classes for the semester in which you are planning to
attend. To be considered for admission, submit this application along with a concurrent student application from your Arizona high school
guidance office/counselor. You must meet one of the following criteria:
• rank in the upper 25 percent of your graduating class and have completed grade 11, OR
• have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher and have completed grade 11, OR
• have a composite score on the ACT of 22 (Arizona residents) or 24 (non-residents) and have completed grade 11, OR
• have a combined verbal and math only score of 1040 (Arizona residents) or 1110 (non-residents) on the SAT I and have
completed grade 11
COLLEGE PREPARATORY (HIGH SCHOOL) COURSES:
• 4 years of college preparatory English
• 4 years of math, including Algebra I and II, Geometry, and any
advanced math course for which Algebra II is a prerequisite

Home school applicants must meet aptitude requirements through ACT
or SAT I composite test scores. ACT score of 22 (Arizona resident) or 24
(non-resident) or SAT I score of 1040 (Arizona resident) or 1110 (non-
resident). Please note: only the math and verbal portions of the SAT I
will be used when processing test scores for admissions.
GED applicants must submit an official score report from the applicable
state department of education and must have a minimum composite
score of 50.
* Core GPA is calculated using only the 16 required college
preparatory courses listed above.
NON-DEGREE SEEKING APPLICANTS (part-time/personal enrichment)
The admission application and $25 application fee is all that is required for non-degree seeking applicants.
Students admitted part-time may enroll in six credit hours or less, and may be limited in the course selection based on prerequisite
requirements. The university may not accept more than 15 credit hours earned while enrolled in this status. Financial aid is not available to
students who attend part-time in non-degree seeking status.
