The University of Edinburgh Staff Benefits Scheme (the Scheme) has agreed with the department for Work and pensions (dWp) to
issue Combined pension forecasts to all active members of the Scheme. in order that we can send you an annual Benefit Statement
that includes information about your State pension as well as information about your pension from this Scheme, we need to get
some information about you from the dWp. To get this information we need first to tell the dWp the following information about you:
• surname or family name • national insurance number
• forenames • staff number or payroll number
• sex • pension scheme number
• date of birth • pension policy number
The DWP will then be able to tell us about:
• the State Pension you have earned so far
• what your State Pension is likely to be when you retire
• the age at which you can get State Pension
The information we get from the dWp will be used only for the purposes of providing you with a forecast of your pension rights.
if you object to us giving the dWp the above information about you then you must complete the form below and return it to us
within 30 days of you joining the Scheme. if you do this, the annual Benefit Statement you receive from us will not include State
pension information.
if you are happy for us to give the dWp the above information about you, you need do nothing, and we shall be allowed to disclose
information about you to the dWp, and to receive information from them, for as long as you continue to work for the University of
Edinburgh and are a member of the Scheme. The State pension information the dWp gives us will be included with the combined
pension forecast you receive from us.
Even if you do not now object to us giving information about you to the dWp, you may do so at any time in the future by writing to me.
