MCNEESE AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT FORM

You are required to certify that you will have available the sum of U.S. $27,000 for your own expenses for your first academic year at McNeese State

University, exclusive of travel expenses. You should also provide proof that U.S. $27,000 per year will be available to you for each subsequent year of

study. Students who plan to stay in the United States through any summer will need additional money for that three-month period. Self-sponsoring

students must show $27,000 for each year of expected study, as they will not be able to substantially supplement their savings while studying full-time

and must show financial capability to cover the cost of tuition for the entire period. For example, a self-sponsoring student would be expected to show

proof of $54,000 (for graduate students to cover two years) or $108,000 (for undergraduate students to cover four years) of expected study. This form

must be signed by your sponsor and must be accompanied by an official recent bank statement or official letter from a bank official verifying

that your sponsor has a current minimum balance of $27,000. The bank letter or statement cannot have a vague statement of the sponsor’s

financial ability.

In computing your expenses, you should bear in mind that students holding Student (F-1) visas have limited opportunities to work on-

campus part time while enrolled at McNeese State University and will not be authorized to work off-campus except under extraordinary circumstances.

Therefore, the applicant should not consider on-campus employment as a significant means of support while at McNeese State University. If you are a

married student and plan to brin g your spouse and children, a proportionately larger amount must be certified, on the basis of at least an additional $4,800

per academic year ($400 per month) for your spouse and$3,000 ($250 per month) for each child. (Note that spouses of F-1 Visa holders are not permitted

to work under any circumstances.)You are also likely to need this documentation to prove to the United States Consular officials that you have sufficient

funds in order to obtain an F-1 visa. We suggest, therefore, that you make copies of all documents for this purpose. Please note that a form I-20 (for the

issuance of an F-1 visa) cannot be issued until you have been admitted to McNeese State University. This McNeese Affidavit of Support Form is an

admissions requirement for all international students.
