Dear Ms. Chun:

I am excited to apply for the Program Lead internship with Cross Cultural

Community Service Center. After reading the internship description on Santa

Clara University’s BroncoLink, I knew immediately that the position and your

organization would be an excellent fit with my interests and experiences. I am

particularly impressed with your 17-year history of serving diverse families and

children in need in Silicon Valley.

I bring significant experience working with children in a variety of settings,

including mentoring, classroom instruction, and tutoring. For example, while

working as a camp counselor for Sacred Heart Nativity School, I was responsible

for supervising and leading activities for groups of 15 boys, ranging in ages from

12-14 years old. I developed skills in conflict resolution and classroom

management, and I learned how to develop engaging activities which responded

to a variety of learning styles. I am particularly proud of my experiences as a

camp counselor because the mentoring relationships I developed with some of

the students have continued beyond that summer.

I am confident that my communication and teamwork skills would be an asset to

this internship. I recently volunteered in Mexico where I worked with a team of

five to provide presentations to community members to promote small business

opportunities. My supervisor commented on my ability to present information

clearly and engage the audience in discussion during the presentations.
