PRE-INSPECTION CHECKLIST
This checklist is designed to be generic in content and may not include all requirements for your particular installation.
The manufacturer’s installation instruction must be adhered to and available to the inspector at the time of the inspection.
Be sure you can answer YES to all of the questions before calling for inspection. Failure of the inspection will require a
reinspection fee to be paid.

Fireplace/wood or pellet stove is NOT installed in a sleeping room.

Floor joists are NOT cut. (Cut floor joists require an engineering analysis and a
plan review.)

Penetration of bottom board by combustion air ducts and grounding will be
rodent-proofed. (Sealed)

Fireplace/wood or pellet stove is grounded with #8 copper grounding wire or
equivalent and terminated at each end with an NEC approved grounding device.
A paint penetrating washer shall be installed where connected to frame.

Fireplace/wood or pellet stove is approved for manufactured (mobile) home
installation. The appliance will be so labeled. Pellet stoves tested and issued by
one of the following testing laboratories may be installed. (Warnack Hersey,

Underwriters Laboratories)

Combustion air inlet conducts outside air directly into fire chamber and prevents
hearth droppings onto area below mobile home. (Check that skirting is
adequately vented (no closable openings)).

manufacturers installation instructions to see if appliance must be secured to a
structural member.)

Hearth extension is 16 inches in front of opening and 8 inches to each side of the
fireplace/wood or pellet stove and shall be at least 3/8 inches thick of non-
combustible material.

A listed/approved chimney system for this appliance installed and securely
attached to the stove. Screws used to secure chimney sections together shall not
penetrate the inner liner.

combustible/non-combustible surfaces in accordance with the manufacturer’s
instructions.
