Course Approval Application
Real estate appraiser course providers can use this form to submit a course for approval or renewal. Complete a new
application for each course or seminar. Courses and seminars will not be approved retroactively.
Place this completed application on top of all required documentation. You can upload it as one .pdf document using our online
submission process. If you are a new course provider, email your information to us to request access and to get instructions on how
to upload. If you are unable to upload, you can mail the complete application to:

Incomplete applications or applications submitted in multiple documents instead of one .pdf will not be processed.
Allow a minimum of 90 days for processing original applications and two weeks for renewal applications.
Original applications For each new course, seminar, or previously approved course with substantial changes, you must
include the following with your application (preferably in this order):
1. AQB and/or IDECC approval certification (if applicable)
2. a course outline with hourly breakdown and learning objectives
3. syllabus or curriculum
4. copy of the examination and exam key
5. all required textbooks, handouts and/or presentations (such as PowerPoint)
6. other (such as USPAP instructor approval certification, resumes, etc.)
Renewal applications For each renewal, you must enclose an AQB and/or IDECC approval certification (if applicable)
and/or a course syllabus or curriculum. Seminars (one-time events) cannot be renewed. Check as renewal below only if
there were no substantial course changes.

Each individual course provider offering distance-learning courses is required to have their own course delivery methods
approved by the IDECC.
Course/Seminar content guidelines
Continuing education must be directly related to real estate appraising or related topics.
Must contribute to maintaining or increasing the knowledge, skills, and competence of real estate appraisers in
performing real estate appraisals in a manner that best serves the public interest.
Electives must be a minimum of 15 hours and include an examination.
Education topics must be applicable to the licensure levels checked above.
Courses/Seminars are not acceptable if they:
present information so basic that the stated goal of continuing education will not be satisfied by the course.
merely contribute to the appraiser's personal development rather than to their ability to perform real estate appraisals.
contribute only generally to the appraiser's knowledge of the business field rather than specifically to operating an
appraisal business.
are preexamination review or examination preparation courses/seminars.
