MESSAGE OF SYMPATHY

We, at the Tarlac State University are deeply saddened by the tragic hostage-taking

that took place on August 23, 2010 here in the Philippines. We express and share with

you our deepest sympathy and grief for the death of eight innocent Chinese nationals

because of a tragic incident. We sincerely feel your pains and understand the anger

that must be felt by those who are deeply hurt by this incident. We condole and

share in the grief of the families.

While we vow our heads in sorrow and shame over this unhappy event, we remain

steadfast and resolved in maintaining peace and keeping our foreign visitors safe and

securely comfortable in our country. Words are not sufficient for us to say how much

we are affected by this. We are ashamed for the incompetence and unnecessary moves

that led to the deaths of your people. We are sorry this had to happen at all. We are

really saddened by these and we could not find reasons why innocent people had to

die.

While we believed that the incident was an isolated case, the University condemns

the incident as it caused the lives of innocent people and placed the country in a very

embarrassing situation. This should have been avoided if professional and personal

issues have been properly handled and attended promptly.

Please accept our sincere apologies and condolences. We too are hurting as we feel

with you and those who lost their loved ones. We can only hope that they will find it

in their hearts to forgive and accept our continuing friendship despite what happened.

We will continue to remain cordial and warmhearted people.
