FIJI Islands Hotel and Tourism Association president Dixon Seeto
has sent his sympathy message to the Japanese community in Fiji
whose relatives are affected by the devastation caused by an
earthquake in Japan.
Mr Seeto said the earthquake in Japan was more serious than the
Queensland flood and the Canterbury earthquake in terms of lives
lost and the damage done.
"The compassion is for the Japanese in the country that are
affected by this earthquake," he said.
"We do feel for them and we can only wish that peace be with
them during this sad moment."
Mr Seeto said Japan was one of Fiji's best tourism markets which
have contributed immensely in the development of the country.
"There would be some reduction in the number of Japanese tourists
coming to Fiji as they will need time to rebuild their homes and
city."
"It doesn't mean that the earthquake would reduce the Japanese
arrival figures and we are confident the tourists will continue to
come to our shores after the rebuilding phase."
